DeLay: Dems Ready to Hit GOP With 'War on Women' Part II

Republicans are about to be accused of waging a brand new "war on women" and must be prepared to fight Democratic mudslingers in the coming months, former House majority leader Tom DeLay told Newsmax TV on Tuesday.

"We've already seen that the Democrats are ready to move," DeLay said to Newsmax host Miranda Khan on "America Talks Live." "They're already calling for [President Donald] Trump to resign because of [sex harassment] allegations and so we know what they're going to do next year.

"We're going to have another war on women that's never worked for the Democrats at all but it's a war we're going to have to stand up and deal with. And frankly I welcome it.

"I think the Republicans particularly Republicans who stand on family values and the Constitution will have an opportunity to stand up and fight this phony war on women that the Democrats are trying to concoct."

A year ago, some Democrats accused the GOP of launching a "war on women" in their ongoing criticism of presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

DeLay, a Texas Republican, made the comments about another such war as he discussed Tuesday's special election in Alabama, in which voters will decide whether to elect Republican Roy Moore, who has been accused of dating girls as young as 14 in his 30s, or Democrat Doug Jones, to the U.S. Senate.

Many Republicans have come out against Moore, which is par for the course in Washington, DeLay believes.

"They're covering their own political behinds," he told Khan. "When something like this comes up and these allegations come up, a politician runs for the hill and that's why they sacrifice their own for their own political benefit."

Next year's midterm elections are going to be messy, according to DeLay.

"The Democrats are going to try to hang Roy Moore and Donald Trump around the neck of those that are up for reelection, whether they be in the House or in the Senate, or any Republican for that matter," he said.

DeLay is the author of "Revival! Rebirth! Revolution! A Radical Call from the Former Majority Leader of the United States House of Representatives," written with Wallace Henley and published by World Ahead Press.
