President Joe Biden's announcement that he is convening his national security team only as Iran launched a massive missile attack on Israel shows that the U.S. administration was very late in taking this step, foreign policy analyst Walid Phares told Newsmax on Tuesday.
Appearing on "Newsline," he stressed that this should have been done a few days ago when it was already clear that the situation in Israel and the Middle East warranted it.
Phares, an expert on Iran, also emphasized that the current situation is not a random act.
He explained that the terrorist attacks on the ground in Israel at the same time as the Iranian missile launches, is part of a plan that has been in preparation by the regime in Tehran for years.
Phares explained that Tehran's ultimate goal is for Israel to be involved in a massive three-dimensional war so that it is busy on multiple fronts, as well as inside the country, and be less able to attack Iran.
He warned that there might be more dramatic developments in the coming days.
Phares also raised the alarm that what happened in Israel last Oct. 7 could also happen in the United States, because the U.S. border is almost completely open in many areas.
He also warned that there is a terrorist army forming inside the United States without enough preparation from the various American agencies to prevent such an occurrence, because there is not the same seriousness given to the threat as there was following the Sept. 11 attacks.
