Rep. Victoria Spartz, R-Ind., told Newsmax on Tuesday that President Joe Biden "failed Ukraine" and has yet to fix "major issues on the border" that "put our country in very grave danger," as Congress attempts to make progress on legislation concerning border security and aid for Ukraine.
"I'm not sure if senators are going to negotiate a serious bill because we have some major issues on the border," Spartz said on "Newsline." "We need to take it seriously and for this president to do something, because this has put our country in very grave danger.
"But we also need to do better in Ukraine and, unfortunately, President Biden failed Ukraine."
Spartz, who immigrated to the U.S. from Ukraine in 2000, said Biden "was not very proactive" and "didn't force the Ukrainian government to do better, he didn't really do lend-lease that we would pass, which causes more accountability.
"Now he [has] created a situation that's very difficult, a lot of people are dying, and long-term wars are expensive."
Spartz also commented on Biden's son, Hunter Biden, and his attorney's recent argument that the subpoena issued by a House panel for his testimony was invalid.
"It's a very valid subpoena," Spartz said, adding that Hunter Biden "needs to understand that we are very serious, and he's not willing … to come voluntarily and do [the] deposition."
