Christian Tybring-Gjedde to Newsmax TV: Trump 'Better Choice' For Future

By    |   Wednesday, 16 September 2020 10:58 AM

The Norwegian lawmaker, who nominated President Donald Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in the Middle East, said he is the better choice for president for the future.

During a Wednesday appearance on Newsmax TV’s “National Report,” Christian Tybring-Gjedde said he thinks Trump is a better option over Biden.

“In Norway, it is very controversial to be actually a Trump supporter,” he said. “He is not the traditional president. He doesn’t act presidential like. If you look at his opponent, Biden, I think that Trump is a much better choice for the future.”

He then ripped Biden for being missing. He said he hasn’t seen him in any newspapers in the last week.

“I don’t really understand where Biden is actually,” he said. “What is he doing right now? Trump is in the media every day. In Norway, in Europe, he is criticized every day, but at least he is out there and trying to talk to people.”

Because Trump is out there, he said, “he admires” Trump.

He said Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize because he facilitated the first peace agreement in the Middle East in many years. He praised his approach of working with the Arab nations and not the Palestinians, which hasn’t worked for decades.

Of the historic agreements between Israel and the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, he said it is “fantastic” to the see the countries “getting together and working toward peace.”

He said the countries understand that they need to cooperate if there is going to be prosperity.

In discussing former President Barack Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize, Tybring-Gjedde said he thinks he was awarded the prize because the committee liked his speeches and how he acted. He suggested he won the award because he was the first Black president elected in the U.S.

He called Obama’s election "unique," but something that has nothing to do with receiving the award.

Because he received the award just several months after he was elected, the lawmaker said Obama “had not achieved anything” and said overall his record isn’t very peace-like.
