Sec. of State John Kerry's vow that a rejection of the Iran nuclear deal would confirm to the Middle East nation "that you can't deal with the West, you can't trust the West," is a "demoralizing" and "ignorant" statement, Rep. Mike Pompeo tells
Newsmax TV.
"I find it disgusting, demoralizing, and the most ignorant of statements that you could possibly imagine," Pompeo, a Kansas Republican, said Monday to Amy Holmes, guest host of "The Steve Malzberg Show."
"For our secretary of state to say the reason that Congress has to approve the deal is because the president has cut an arrangement with the ayatollah that doesn't work for the American people, but if Congress says no, we'll offend them while they're chanting, 'Death to America' — it's incomprehensible."

Kerry made the statement to Congress as he promoted the controversial deal, which lifts economic sanctions that have crippled Iran, in exchange for the limits on the Middle East nation's capability to build nuclear weapons.
Pompeo, a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, said he wants Congress to "make it very, very difficult for companies to take advantage of the fact our president has decided to lift commercial sanctions on doing business with Tehran."
