Donald Trump's insulting tirades have become something to expect after the GOP presidential front-runner doesn't get his way, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz tells
Newsmax TV.
"We have now gotten used to the temper tantrums, or Trumper Tantrums, that he throws," Cruz said Wednesday on "The Hard Line." "Whenever he's unhappy, he melts down and he explodes on Twitter. It is odd behavior for a grown man, and it is more something you would expect to see in Romper Rooms."
Earlier in the day,
Cruz told reporters in Iowa his 5-year-old and 7-year-old daughters are better behaved than Trump.
Trump had promised he would win Iowa, but the voters disagreed, giving Cruz a victory instead, the senator told host Ed Berliner.
"I guess that he's unhappy," Cruz said. "But whenever he's unhappy, Donald blames someone else. … It's never his fault."
Iowa caucus-goers compared the records of Trump and Cruz and determined Trump isn't conservative, Cruz said.
"His health plan is identical to Hillary Clinton's and Bernie Sanders', " he said. "It's expanding Obamacare and putting the federal government in charge of you and your doctor. If I'm president, we're going to repeal every word of Obamacare."

Republican voters "don't want Trumpcare socialized medicine" and don't agree with Trump's support of eminent domain "to take your home and to give it to giant corporations and casinos," he said.
Trump skipped the last GOP debate, Cruz said, because he doesn't want to debate the issues substantively.
"Instead he just wants to engage in insults," he said. "I'm not interested in insulting Donald, and I don't think the American people are interested in hearing politicians bicker like children."
Asked about Trump calling him a liar over a campaign ad accusing him of pushing socialized medicine, Cruz said the ad uses Trump's own words.
"Donald sometimes seems to live in this alternate reality where he just yells 'liar!' at himself," he said.
"Donald has explained, and this is his own words, he says, 'I Donald Trump am a liberal on healthcare.' Well, he doesn't' get to pretend otherwise and if he's going to run for president, he's got to be willing to stand in front of the voters and make the case," Cruz said.
"It'll be interesting to see if he skips the New Hampshire debate, too, because he wants to make this a debate about insults and personal attacks."
