President Donald Trump gets blamed for national tragedies such as the deadly California synagogue shooting over the weekend because the media is determined to "damage" him, Bill O'Reilly told Newsmax TV.
O'Reilly was on "The Wayne Allyn Root Show" on Monday and addressed the shooting that left a woman dead and three people, including the rabbi, injured.
"It's an extension of the American media's obsession to damage Donald Trump, so whatever happens in the country, it's gonna be blamed on him," said O'Reilly, alluding to claims in the media and among the political left that Trump's rhetoric inspired the shooter.
"So, they say, 'well, Donald Trump's anti-Semitic.' Now, if you know anything, you know he's been very supportive of Israel, moved the [embassy] from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, is a champion of protecting the Jewish people, who are under threat in Israel, so how could he possibly be anti-Semitic?"
O'Reilly added Americans are sick of the partisan media to the point they tune it out.
"At this point, Wayne, I don't think most people take any of this seriously," he said. "They just say another hate media, another fake news event."
