Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Texas, says President Donald Trump will have Democrats in his corner after he leaves office.
''People in this country have problems with both parties. They have problems with people who don’t get things done or say one thing and do another. This was the thing about President Trump that really energized people. He has brought a lot of people to our party and I would tend to look at it kind of like what we did with Reagan Democrats,'' Sessions said Thursday during an appearance on Newsmax TV’s ''Spicer & Co.''
''I believe that we will have Trump Democrats, middle class people who actually want to see where America not only moves forward but we make progress in their lives, too, and it extends more than 4 years.''
Sessions also said the GOP needs to move forward by listening to people, working with them, ''but we have to solve the problem of this election issue back home, organizations, county officials that blocked any interest in trying to look at actual ballots.''
''There was a negotiation, a discussion, it was very professional and open. If we’re going to intend to keep this democracy alive where people have confidence in voting we’re going to have to get local officials and they denied the Trump campaign and other Republicans that ability to have an open conversation. So, they went to court without the facts of the case, just with anomalies that happened that need to be explained. There’s a lot of work to do.''
