Larry Klayman: Senate Doesn't 'Have the Guts' to Deny Moore

The Senate and Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., do not "have the guts" to deny a seat to Roy Moore should the embattled Alabama candidate win a Dec. 12 special election, according to Freedom Watch founder Larry Klayman.

The former federal prosecutor told Newsmax TV's "Newsmax Now" on Wednesday although there is a legal means to expel Moore should he win the Senate seat left vacant by Attorney General Jeff Session, "it won't hold up."

"It's not going to work, and McConnell doesn't have the guts to do that," Klayman asserted. "He's not going to go up against the will of the people in Alabama and alienate the tea party and alienate the conservative Republican base. So, as a practical matter, he can threaten all he wants, but he's not going to avoid having to seat Judge Roy Moore."

Klayman said the allegations of sexual misconduct against Moore appear to be a "political hit."

"It's been 40 years and even the president now has come around in supporting him, and people see that this just smells," he said. "And it's part in parcel to nearly everything the Republican establishment does. And if they want to lose their so-called base, at least people that will vote for them, go ahead. I don't think they have the guts to not seat Roy Moore."

Klayman also weighed in on the judiciary, asserting "the American legal system has already been taken over."

"You've got 90-95 percent [former Presidents Barack] Obama and [Bill] Clinton appointees" on the federal bench, he said. "The judiciary has been infested . . . with leftist judges who don't follow the law much more the Constitution but follow their politics."

Klayman touted Freedom Watch's "judicial strike force coalition," but efforts to get more conservative judges on the bench is “going to be a slow process."

"There's a level of playing field when I'm representing private clients and in court, in business matters or other matters, but if there's a political aspect to the case 95, 90 percent approximately of the judges on the federal bench are highly leftist at this point," he said.
