Former NSA contractor Edward Snowden should not have had access to so much top secret information, and if there really is
a second leaker then someone should be fired, says Jed Babbin, former Deputy Undersecretary of Defense under former President George H.W. Bush.
"Not everybody should have access to everything, very few people should," Babbin told Ed Berliner on "MidPoint" on
Newsmax TV Thursday. "Let's face it, Snowden was just an insignificant little toad, and he happened to be assistant administrator."

"Somebody screwed up in an enormous way and let him have access to an enormous amount of top secret information that should have been compartmented," he explained.
"There is no way that he should've been able to get a tenth of the stuff that he had," the former defense department official said.
"So the question is, have they gone back now and fixed the system and fixed the contractors who were vetting these people?" he added.
Babbin said that Snowden's background check allegedly included interviewing "his mother and his girlfriend," which he described as "laughable."
"That to me is completely negligent and someone up the line, whether it's NSA or CIA or whoever, whatever part of the alphabet soup, some idiot accepted that background check," he added.
Babbin says that if there really is another former NSA employee or contractor leaking information like Snowden, then "somebody in a big, big, big position ought to get fired."
