Scalise to Newsmax TV: 'Alarming' Barr's DOJ Not More Aggressive in Some Cases

Frustration with outgoing Attorney General Bill Barr for not publicizing investigations into Hunter Biden, son of then-Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden, preceded Barr's resignation letter Monday, but House Minority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., tells Newsmax TV, several cases could have been pursued harder by Barr's Department of Justice.

"You know, there was so much of this stuff that had come out and over a year ago, it seems like the Hunter Biden case had been known by Justice," Scalise said Monday on "Greg Kelly Reports."

"On top of the FBI scandal, where some of the FBI agents that tried to entrap the president, and were spying on his campaign four years ago, when he came down those escalators, that was alarming and very frustrating that that wasn't dealt with more aggressively as well," Scalise said.

The mainstream media, he noted, wouldn't report the Hunter Biden scandal at all, and Fox News would report it only with skepticism, he said.

"You know, all the other allegations that were very alarming and they just covered it all up, and when they would report it was in the context of a baseless claim ... by the way coming from the people who made baseless claims after President Trump for months and months."

He pointed to stories about a "whistleblower" who was going to "put everybody in jail, and then that testimony would come out later that day," but at then end of the day, "there was nothing there."

Trump was impeached over the allegation that turned out to be false, Scalise said. "And here you've got the Hunter Biden story turning out to be true."
