President Donald Trump is in a "really good position" for Wednesday's challenge in Congress of the Electoral College vote, as "everybody knows this election was full of fraud," former acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell told Newsmax TV.
"The Democrats have moved from there's not any fraud, to there's not widespread [fraud], and now their new mantra is there is 'not enough fraud to overturn' the election," Grenell, also a former U.S. Ambassador to Germany, told Saturday's "The Count."
Grenell noted he worked in Nevada for the count for the campaign, and it was discovered that "42,000 people voted twice, more than the margin" of loss.
"Every single time we tried to bring this forward to the courts, you know, they've just been largely dismissive," Grenell told host Tom Basile. "So I think that the rule of law and the process is that, on Wednesday, we get to showcase this to the politicians and see where the chips fall."
He also lauded Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who is leading a group of GOP senators in opposing the Electoral College vote unless a 10-day audit is held, for "really listening to the base" and to people who are "really outraged."
"He is trying every possible legal effort to highlight this fraud, so we just have to have people that are willing to listen," Grenell said.
Grenell also called on Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah – and other GOP senators who have not signed onto the effort to reject the electoral votes – they need to look at the evidence and the "daunting process that stands before you."
"On the politics side, I think it's pretty clear if you're listening to the people, it's an overwhelming loud cry to do something," Grenell said.
The former ambassador also discussed the death threat made against Trump by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani as the first anniversary of the killing of Gen. Qasem Soleimani approaches.
"That means that the Iranian regime is not as powerful, and they hate that," Grenell said. "We have to send a very strong message, which we have, and I hope that any administration that comes after President Trump will do the same thing, which is a pressure campaign."
