Kerik: Politicians Need to Push Prosecution of Unruly Protestors

Newsmax TV's "America Talks Live"

Former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik says paid, left-leaning protesters are committing horrific violence while screaming about their right to free speech – and liberal politicians are letting them get away with it.

"You only have that free speech availability if you're on the left," Kerik told host Bill Tucker on Newsmax TV's "America Talks Live." "If you're on the right, then the left says 'you're a fascist.' The left calls you all kinds of names.

"You have people being physically attacked, violently attacked. It's nonsense. It seems like it's gotten worse over the last two or three years, and especially since President Trump has been elected. . . .

"These people should be prosecuted, but there are mayors and there are governors in those states that does not push for prosecutions."

Kerik recalled New York's police force covering various rallies at the United Nations during his stint as commissioner from 2000 to 2001.

"Many of them [were staged] by the far left," Kerik told Tucker. "One day it would be against fur. The next day it would be against Israel. The next day it would be against greenpeace.

"But when I would watch the intelligence videos, it's all the same people, same players, over and over and over again. . . . You have people like [liberal billionaire businessman] George Soros and others that fund these things.

"They're paying people $15 an hour to go out and protest. That's a lot of what we're seeing, and that generates this movement."

Kerik said during his time working under New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, arrests were made regardless of political affiliation.

"Under Giuliani, I don't care if you were on the left or you were on the right, or you were a Republican or a Democrat. [If] you violently attack someone, you're going to get locked up. Those times have changed under the left leadership."

Kerik also took to task officials in Oakland, Calif., after a BART train was swarmed by 50 to 60 juveniles who strong-armed passengers of bags and cellphones. Authorities are not releasing videos or photos of the assault.

"The goofiest reason is that the administration out there, whoever they may be – from the mayor to the police executives on down – have decided we're not going to release the video or the photos that we have, or any evidence that we have, because these kids are minors," Kerik said.

"Let me be clear: These aren't victims. These aren't minor victims. These are kids that got into the subway illegally, then went on a violent rampage. They robbed, they assaulted –violent assaults – robbed continually several people on the train and they got off the train and escaped.

"Evidently there's evidence that demonstrates, that shows who they are, except the administration is not going to put it out because they're minors. That's the most ludicrous thing I've ever heard."

Kerik, who also served as interim minister of Interior in Iraq, is the author of "From Jailer to Jailed: My Journey from Correction and Police Commissioner to Inmate #84888-054," published by Threshold Editions.
