President Donald Trump's has "good wishes" for Israel ahead of his meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday – but that feeling does not equate with policy, conservative journalist Bill Kristol told Newsmax TV.

The Weekly Standard founder and editor-at-large predicted a good meeting between the two leaders, telling Monday's "The Steve Malzberg Show," "they genuinely like and respect each other."

"I think for the pro-Israel community – I'm certainly part of that – Trump has good instincts and good wishes toward Israel," he said. "But that's different from translating into policy."

Kristol said the young administration needs "to have your team in place, you need to have worked out, if you want to move the embassy to Jerusalem, you need to make sure you're not having a blow up with every Arab country."

"Or if you're going to have a blow up, say 'fine, we'll have a blowup.' But you've got to manage that."

"Execution matters," he added. "Trump knows this, he runs businesses, right? Things have to work well. And I would say they just need to get their ducks lined up a little better."

"Even in an area like Israel, where I'm sympathetic to where they generally want to go, you don't have the sense of coherent policy-making quite yet."

Kristol said he thinks "Netanyahu wants to send a signal the Obama years are over."

"For the first time" in the prime minister's tenure, he "thinks he has someone he can work with perhaps who's fundamentally on the same wavelength as him," Kristol said. "If that turns out to be the case, that'll be a very good thing."

Kristol also slammed a satire of Trump's counselor Kellyanne Conway by "Saturday Night Live" last Saturday as sexist and "inappropriate."

"If they did that about liberals in the White House, if some conservative show did that, sexism, disgraceful, making fun of a woman who, on her merits, has made it to the top, and then turning her into a sex object and stuff – I actually thought it was pretty distasteful, the skit with Kellyanne," he said of a skit that portrayed Conway as a stalker of CNN host Jake Tapper.

"They're very feminist except when it comes to conservative or Republican women who have real achievements," he said.
