Outrage Over Planned Parenthood Sex Ed Classes in California

A California school district is allowing Planned Parenthood to give 13-year-olds "outrageous" lessons about sex lubricants and condoms, says Brad Dacus, former legislative assistant to ex-Sen. Phil Gramm.

"Parents don't know what is taking place," Dacus said Friday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"This Lafayette, California, school district … signed on to have Planned Parenthood do all their sex education for this high school.

"Parents got this real vague, short little checklist that didn't reveal this information at all. So the average parent wasn't aware."

Parents whose kids attend Acalanes High School have collected more than 100 signatures on a petition to protest the sex lessons, he said.

"We're going to hold their feet to the fire until they are responsible and not have such an extreme, outrageous organization like Planned Parenthood put on such an extreme, outrageous, out of the mainstream presentation to the harm and detriment to young boys and girls at such a formative age," he said.

According to Dacus — now president of the Pacific Justice Institute, which defends parental rights and other civil liberties — the Planned Parenthood lessons include a sex checklist which asks: "Are you ready for sex?"

"They asked questions on this and the basic determination after they're done with this checklist is that if they won't feel bad about it and they know how to tell their partner what feels good, then it's OK," he said.

"They're also instructed to encourage to ask each other questions like, is it OK if I take off my pants? To bring civility into it, I guess.

"Parents under California law are entitled to review all curriculum material that is given to their child when requested, so that wasn't complied with."
