Pat Buchanan: Jeb Bush Not Dead Yet But They've Moved Him to Life Support

It may not be time to stick a fork in Jeb Bush's sinking presidential campaign, but it's certainly hanging on for dear life, says veteran conservative commentator Pat Buchanan, who ran for the White House three times and served as a senior adviser to Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford.

"It's hard for me to see how Jeb comes back," Buchanan said Thursday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"His campaign has almost been sad in that he's got to be a far better manager and governor than he has been a candidate.

"I haven't seen real signs of movement here. I don't think he's dead but they've moved him into intensive care."

The former Florida governor, once considered the GOP front-runner in the 2016 presidential election, has seen his poll numbers steadily erode over the past six months.

According to Real Clear Politics, Bush is stuck approximately in the middle of the GOP primary pack, with a national polling average of 5.8 percent.

A new Fox News poll shows him tying for fourth place with former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, each with just 4 percent.

This week, Bush relaunched, dropping the explanation point from his first name in campaign ads and adopting the new slogan "Jeb Can Fix It."
