Conservative commentator Pat Buchanan told Newsmax TV
on Tuesday that he agreed with Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson's view on Muslims in the Oval Office.
"If you are an orthodox Muslim and you believe in Sharia law and you believe in the primacy of the Islamic faith in your country … those are utterly incompatible with the constitutional and Democratic republic like the United States," Buchanan, who has run for the White House three times as a Republican, said on "The Daily Wrap."
He was interviewed by hosts Joe Concha, Rick Ungar and Jonathan Gilliam.
"Dr. Carson is … saying that, 'If you believe in that sort of strict Islamic faith, you don't belong in the presidency of the United States,'" Buchanan said.

Buchanan, who has served three GOP presidents, is the author of "The Greatest Comeback: How Richard Nixon Rose From Defeat to Create the New Majority."
He told Newsmax that he also supported Kentucky clerk Kim Davis, who served six days in jail for refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses in Rowan County.
"There is a natural law. … It's God's law. That is higher than positive law.
"That woman did the right thing," Buchanan said "She defied the law and went to jail and paid the price.
"That's the price of civil disobedience of an unjust law."
