The National Rifle Association is ramping up efforts for the 2020 election, according to NRA President Oliver North on Newsmax TV, who projects to double in size to protect gun rights and fight back against the burgeoning "Disarming America" movement.
"It's very clear to me what we have in Congress now is a majority that believes not in gun control, they believe in disarming America," Ret. Lt. Col. North told Monday's "America Talks Live." "That's where we're headed in this.
"Californians are already talking that way, because they've found that draconian measures they already got in place can't stop bad people from doing bad things."

North sees a lot of growth potential for NRA membership in America, which he particularly values to avoid giving up the Senate, White House, and Supreme Court along with the House majority in 2020.
"Because, if we get the wrong president, and enough people to leave the Supreme Court, you could end up with repealing the 2nd Amendment as one of the retired justices has already advocated," North told host John Cardillo. "What are we going to do about it? We're going to steadfastly oppose the stupidity of these kinds of measures. They're not gun control measures. It's disarming America."
North fears American "oligarchs" are pumping money into the most anti-gun Congress in U.S. history.
"We've never had this kind of Congress before," North added. "The good news is we have a president who is going to veto that kind of legislation and thank god they keep control of the U.S. Senate."
North maintained the NRA is not anti-gun law, but it supports common sense measures that protect the 2nd Amendment and the American people.
"We don't need more gun laws in America," North said. "We need the gun laws already on the books to be enforced.
"What we need is a better mental health system. What we need is an instant check system that actually works the right way. Those are the kinds of things we've advocated all along."
