It all begins nearly 75 years ago. The place is Hiroshima. The date is August 6, 1945, and the world’s first atomic bomb explodes, effectively ending Japan’s domination in World War II. There are more than 70,000 dead and many more are wounded. That day, mankind discovers the power of nuclear weapons and the fear that comes with it too.

Then, a few years later the H-Bomb explodes in the Pacific Ocean. The fear and paranoia grow in an alarming way and in the next 50 years, during the Cold War, humanity almost disappears in accidental nuclear apocalypse.

In “On the Brink: Doomsday,” military and war experts explain how the human race was very near total extinction by a nuclear holocaust as a result of mad generals, bad computers, stray bombers, and accidental launches, blunders, and petty brinkmanship. And it’s a jaw-dropping danger that still exists today — a very real peril that has brought us to the edge of Armageddon.

Using exclusive, never-before-seen archival footage and accurate reenactments, “On the Brink: Doomsday” tells the complete, uncensored, and unvarnished story of our many close calls with complete nuclear disaster.

Written and directed by Gary Parker — whose credits include “Lizzie Borden Had an Axe,” “Killer Jellyfish,” and “Lions of Crocodile River” — “On the Brink: Doomsday” is an important look at the nuclear peril of the past, present, and future. It’s one program you and your family cannot afford to miss.

“On the Brink: Doomsday” adds to the diverse programming featured on Newsmax TV, now carried in more than 40 million U.S. satellite and cable homes.

With compelling original shows such as "The Jesse Lee Peterson Show," "Newsmax Now," "America Talks Live," "The Wayne Allyn Root Show," "The Brett Winterble Show," "The Howie Carr Show," "The Joe Pags Show," and "The Schnitt Show," Newsmax TV has become the nation's must-watch news, lifestyle, and information channel.
