Rep. Burgess Owens, R-Utah, told Newsmax that former President Donald Trump is under attack because he represents a massive "middle finger" to the radical left.
Appearing Thursday on "Rob Schmitt Tonight," Owens argued that Trump was being targeted by the Department of Justice, as well as the Fulton County and Manhattan district attorneys' offices, because he challenges them.
"Donald Trump represents, for the tyrannical left, the middle finger," the congressman explained. "And they hate the fact that anyone could actually stand against them, fight against them. It drives them nuts because they're so used to being bullies."
Owens said that because of the former president's unique position, any Republican lawmakers and presidential candidates that would rather vote for President Joe Biden over Trump are "not our friend."
"We are right now trying to fight for our country, and we're at that very edge," Owens emphasized. "We need to make sure we have someone in office that can fight and understand and fight for the American people — for what we stand far."
His comments arrived just before Trump was booked, fingerprinted, and had his photo taken at the Fulton County Jail for state charges accusing him of trying to overturn the 2020 election with co-conspirators.
The former president was subsequently released on a $200,000 bond covered by Foster Bail Bonds LLC, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Most of the 18 other Trump allies indicted in the case have already surrendered, including his former attorney and New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Mark Meadows, his onetime White House chief of staff.
