Former Navy SEALs can do great harm if they spill unauthorized secrets about the elite military squad's actions, says William Doyle, author with Dick Couch of "Navy SEALs: Their Untold Story," published by William Morrow.

"When a former SEAL or a special operator does things without it being checked, people can get killed, that's the problem," Doyle said Thursday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

Doyle, whose book was vetted by the government, was referring to Robert O'Neill, who is reportedly taking credit for personally shooting Osama bin Laden, and Matt Bissonnette, who wrote "No Easy Day: The Autobiography of a Navy SEAL," about the bin Laden operation under the pen name of "Mark Owen."

"The former SEALS who are angry … say it's because they read something in Owen's book that they think could help an enemy," he said.
