"And at this point," she continued, "the grand jury taking a break may push any potential indictment of the former president to late April at the earliest. But it looks like the case is dead."
Trump's lawyer went on to denounce Michael Cohen, who has been called Bragg's star witness in the case, as a habitual liar. Cohen, who served as a member of Trump's legal counsel, was disbarred from practicing law in New York in late February 2019 for lying to Congress, according to the Time.
"I truly believe," Halligan added, "that the grand jury will not find Michael Cohen credible at all ... If his mouth is moving, he's lying. His name has come to be synonymous with 'liar.' When you think of Michael Cohen, you think 'liar.' He will get obliterated on cross-examination, which will make Bragg look pretty bad. So, we'll see what happens, but I think the case is dead."
