Republican lawmakers should get used to the fact that the Affordable Care Act cannot totally be repealed and move on to fixing it instead of trying to blow it up, veteran political analyst Michael Regan tells Newsmax TV.

"They can't repeal all of it. They can only repeal parts of it because of the rules of the Senate and what have you. So what they need to do is find a way to start fixing it. Find areas of agreement," Reagan, the eldest son of Ronald Reagan, said Wednesday to Miranda Khan on Newsmax's "America Talks Live."

"What about HSAs [Health Savings Accounts]? What about selling insurance across state lines? What about tort reform? There's a thousand things that people agree on. Find the ones they agree on, write that bill, send it to the president.... Start fixing Obamacare and quit bitching about Obamacare."

Reagan said that bipartisan negotiation is key.

"You tackle the things you agree on. The president needs to start passing legislation sent to him that is bipartisan, that people agree on. And there's many people in Congress, Democrats or Republicans, who agree on selling insurance across state lines, who agree on tort reform and other issues," he said.

"Find those areas and begin to get the yeses. Remember this president said 'We're going to win so much you're going to get tired of winning.' Well, America's waiting."
