House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy's incendiary comment that the Benghazi select committee has politically damaged Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will not help her flagging campaign a bit, political analyst Michael Reagan tells
Newsmax TV.
"That's not going to do anything to refire up her campaign. Hillary's problem is not Kevin McCarthy. Hillary's problem is Hilary Rodham Clinton and everybody knows that by now," Reagan, son of President Ronald Reagan, told J.D. Hayworth on "Newsmax Prime."
"Kevin McCarthy made a stupid blunder speaking to Sean Hannity the other night on Fox, but the reality of it is the reason that Hillary is where she is in the polls is because of Hillary Clinton."

polls of Iowa and New Hampshire voters reveal that Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont is viewed more positively by registered voters than Clinton.
Democrats believe McCarthy's comments expose the Benghazi committee as existing solely as a weapon to damage Clinton's campaign.
As a result, some conservatives question McCarthy's ability to be the next House Speaker. McCarthy is tipped to replace outgoing Speaker John Boehner at the end of the month.
But Reagan said McCarthy's ascension is solid, despite a challenge from Rep. Jason Chaffetz of Utah.
"Kevin McCarthy's got the votes he's going to need in the House of Representatives, being the GOP leader," Reagan said.
"Chaffetz, nice man, good leader and what have you, but there just aren't enough conservative votes in the House of Representatives to turn the leadership over and the gavel to Chaffetz."
