Retired Air Force Gen. Michael Hayden called Donald Trump's comments on Muslims "prejudice" in an interview with
Newsmax TV Monday.
Hayden appeared on "Newsmax Prime" and told Miranda Khan he's not happy with Trump's desire to put a temporary halt to Muslims trying to enter the United States.
Trump has said that in the past, and
he reiterated that belief during a national security speech the day after the Orlando terror attack that left 49 people dead.
"I complain about Mr. Trump's position that we should close our borders to all the adherents to one of the world's great religions," Hayden said. "I actually said that what he said yesterday and this morning about Orlando was prejudice, simplistic, and frankly just wrong."

Hayden, who served as director of the National Security Agency and the CIA, said he's "got issues across the spectrum today" because of his disagreements with Trump and Hillary Clinton, Trump's Democratic challenger in the race for president.
Hayden also said the lone-wolf type of terror attacks, which officials suspect may be the case in Orlando, are "frightening" and very difficult" to detect ahead of time.
"When this is all self-contained within one human being, there's no trail for us to detect and that's what makes this so troubling," Hayden said.
