Marsha Blackburn: Loretta Lynch Doesn't Accept the Constitution

By    |   Thursday, 29 Jan 2015 12:57 PM

Attorney General nominee Loretta Lynch's testimony shows that she questions both the Constitution and the rule of law, says Republican Rep. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee.

"Basically, you have someone who is saying, 'I don't accept the rules and the laws that are in place, and I don't accept what is defined in the Constitution,'" Blackburn told hosts J.D. Hayworth and Miranda Khan on "America's Forum" on Newsmax TV Thursday.

Lynch voiced support Wednesday for President Barack Obama's executive actions on immigration during her testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

"This is ridiculous that she would feel that someone who has illegally entered the country should be placed in line ahead of either a citizen or a legal immigrant," Blackburn said.

"I found it to be astounding and to really show a lack of either understanding or acceptance of what is carried in those laws and rules and in the Constitution," she added.

According to Blackburn, "what you see is someone who is going to not necessarily say, 'this is the law, and if you want the law changed, go back to Congress.'

"My concern is she'll be someone who says, 'this is my interpretation of the law,'" she said.

"Many times that interpretation is not abiding by the law, but trying to find a work around it," Blackburn added.
