Marc Morano: Hottest Year Claim 'Propaganda' for Obama's SOTU

Claims by NOAA and NASA that 2014 ranks as having the warmest weather on record globally is "sheer nonsense," says weather expert Marc Morano, founder of ClimateDepot.com.

It is unbelievable … utter and sheer nonsense," Morano said Tuesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

Morano believes the report was released just before Tuesday's State of the Union address for political reasons.

"I will bet you serious money that in tonight's State of the Union, President [Barack] Obama will cite the hottest year on record as part of his global warming propaganda," Morano said.

"This was the federal agencies knowing they had to produce for the top man in their command."

"What they declared, 2014, the hottest year in record … is based on hundreds of degree temperature, which you can't even measure."

"In other words, there's a 500 percent air bar and this is comfortably within that air bar. There's no way they can measure it. It's a political statement."

Morano said NASA — the National Aeronautics and Space Administration — acknowledged there is only a 38 percent chance that 2014 could be called the hottest year ever, "but they buried that in their press materials."

"You can't measure hundredths of a degree temperature between hottest years. It's like a thermometer. If Al Gore says our Earth has a fever, if you measure your child's temperature and it's 103.5, no one is like 'oh my gosh, it's 103.5 one, it's 103.5 two,' " he said.

"That's the equivalent of what they're trying to say here and they don't even have confidence in what they're saying."

"The hottest year claim dissolves on contact with actual science and on contact with actual journalism, I might add, because NASA is backpedaling, NOAA and our federal agency is backpedaling."
