Marc Benhuri: World Allowing Iran More Time to Build Nukes

By    |   Monday, 24 Nov 2014 02:29 PM

Iran scored a major victory in getting the deadline for a nuclear deal extended until next June — giving the Mideast nation more time to develop a weapon of mass destruction, noted Iranian author Dr. Marc Benhuri says.

"They are liars, cheaters, deceivers and they do everything they can in order to have enough time to make their nuclear weapon," Benhuri said Monday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

The United States and five other world powers are pressuring Iran to curb its nuclear program in return for a lifting of sanctions that have hurt its economic bottom line.

But this week's deadline was not met as negotiators in Vienna failed to reach a comprehensive agreement. They agreed to extend talks for another seven months.

Benhuri — CEO of Tabletalk Enterprises and author of "Price for Freedom," published by Dorrance Publishing — said Iran has continually failed to meet its obligations as the talks continue.

"If you look at it all the things Iran was supposed to do during this period of time, this extension, they gave them, ask them one minor thing. They did not fulfill any of the major things. None, zero," he said.

"As this has continued, many people in Iran are upset, too. I spoke with many of them today by the telephone and they are really upset at us [as to] why we gave them the extension."

"They said we have to live under this harsh situation for another seven months. There is shortage of food for them, shortage of medicine and they are desperate."

Bunhuri added the delay has also caused anger among leaders in Israel and Egypt.

"I talked to Israel and I also talked to one of the advisers to the president of Egypt. They are extremely upset because they believe the same thing we said, that they're are getting very close to having that atomic bomb and weapon," he said.

"Seven months is a long time. With the advancement they have and the heavy water in Iraq, they are very close to it. Many people in Israel that I talked to said they have a feeling that by then they would really have it."

Benhuri said reports that Israel is reconsidering military action against Iran may be accurate.

"It is a possibility, but Israel has one major problem, which is the distance. Without the help from the United States, it would be very difficult for them to achieve," he said.

"Of course, the Iranians are hoping this military action won't happen. The problem Israel has is the distance."

Is there an Arab country that can help Israelis refuel their aircraft if an action was initiated?

"I heard that they have clearance from Jordan and Saudi Arabia because it's also to their benefit," Benhuri said.

"All the countries and regions are in jeopardy from Saudi Arabia to Kuwait and all the Gulf area."
