Wednesday, 16 July 2014 05:53 PM EDT

Former Vice President Dick Cheney and his daughter Liz have done the nation a great service by warning about the increasing threat of terror attacks, says Jennifer Rubin, author of the "Right Turn" blog in The Washington Post.

Cheney says there will be another mass-casualty event in the United States, worse than 9/11, and the nation must be prepared. Part of that preparation, he says, is to remain involved in the Middle East, where terror groups are spreading.

Rubin said: "We're talking about large territories, large areas around the world, where terrorists will have safe haven where they will be able to make plots.''
