Former "Growing Pains" actor Kirk Cameron said Friday he wants to give "real help" to parents raising their own children experiencing growing pains in a digital age.
In an interview on Newsmax TV's "Newsmax Now," the conservative writer and star, who's also an active evangelical Christian, said his new movie, "Connect," will be in theaters Feb. 27 and March 1, with experts' advice on keeping children and families in touch.

His interview begins at about the 13:10-minute mark.
"Social media is having our kids," he said. "My wife and i have six kids — five teenagers… we decided to get in front of the whole thing [with a movie] that would give parents real help in raising their kids in this new frontier."
"We are pioneer parents," he added of those raising children today. "We're not alone, we're all in it together."
His personal advice, he said: "Stay connected with your kids."
He said he hopes his movie with give parents "the tools they need to have those important conversations, so they can be champions in social media, not victims of it."
