Hillary Clinton is bringing out her husband, former President Bill Clinton, early in the campaign because she is struggling with minority voters and with winning Iowa and New Hampshire, Donald Trump campaign national spokeswoman Katrina Pierson tells
Newsmax TV.
"She's trying to really solidify the base around her because she hasn't been able to bring along the constituency that her husband has," Pierson told "Newsmax Prime" guest host Joe Pags Wednesday. "So it makes sense, and it's probably a good move for her."
Still, Pierson said, Clinton should limit her attacks on Trump, the GOP front-runner, to ways that don't provoke him to hit back.
Clinton recently accused Trump of having a "penchant for sexism," which
prompted Trump to respond it was Clinton's own husband who had such a "penchant."
"When we're talking about Bill Clinton, most people want to think about the one thing that everybody knows about, but this is not what Mr. Trump is referring to," Pierson said. "Bill Clinton has a history of sexist and chauvinism and abusing his power when it comes to women."

If Hillary Clinton wants to play the "women's victim card," she will have to find another way to do so, Pierson said.
"The Clintons know Trump personally," she said. "They know he's not a racist, a sexist or a bigot."
