Gov. Reeves to Newsmax: Harris a Far-Left San Francisco Democrat

By    |   Saturday, 07 September 2024 01:16 PM EDT

Questioning Kamala Harris' political consistency as she campaigns for the presidency, Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves told Newsmax that the vice president is who she is: a far-left San Francisco Democrat.

When asked who he believed the "real Kamala Harris" to be on "America Right Now" Saturday, Reeves replied, "I think she's exactly what she has shown to be during her entire life of elected office. She was voted the most liberal United States senator for a reason.

"The reality is she is a product of the far-left political movement in San Francisco, and that's what she's always been.

"Now she's trying to tell the American people, 'Hey, all those things that I've been for the last 10 to 15 years — well, now that I'm running for president, I really never was for those things.' And I just don't think it passes the smell test in middle America," he said.

"Most Americans don't know what she believes in," the governor said, referencing her lack of success in her previous presidential campaign. Harris, who ran for president in 2020 but failed to gain traction, "never received a vote for president," Reeves pointed out.

Turning to the upcoming debate on Sept. 10 between former President Donald Trump and Harris, Reeves expressed confidence in Trump's performance, predicting that the former president's straightforward style would resonate with voters.

"I think President Trump is going to be President Trump," Reeves said. "I have known him a long time, and he certainly is going to say what's on his mind."

Reeves described Trump as a leader who can appeal to Americans who are tired of traditional politics, contrasting his direct approach with what he views as Harris' inconsistency.

"They're tired of the typical politician like Kamala Harris, who says that she's for one thing and then goes out and does something else," Reeves said.

He argued that voters will evaluate their current economic circumstances under the Biden-Harris administration compared to the Trump era.

"Am I better or worse off under the policies of the Biden and Harris administrations?" Reeves asked, emphasizing the rising costs of goods like groceries and gas. "People are not better off today than they were four years ago.

"I think President Trump is going to do very well in the debate and ultimately do very well in the election.

"I hope they debate more than once. I hope they debate multiple times," he said.
