Author Moore: Denying Visa to Iraqi Nun Underscores 'Brain-Dead' Policy

By    |   Friday, 01 May 2015 02:08 PM

The persecution of Christians in the Middle East is getting worse, author Johnnie Moore told "Newsmax Prime" host J.D. Hayworth on Thursday, and now includes the plight of a Catholic nun who has been rejected for a visa to come to the United States to tell of her experiences and struggles with the Islamic State.

The nun, Sister Diana, had gone to the U.S. consulate in Erbil, Iraq, to obtain her travel visa, Moore said, but was told that she could not be issued one because she could not prove her permanent residence.

The problem, Moore told the Newsmax TV program, is that her permanent residence is in a city in Iraq that has been taken over by the Islamic State (ISIS).

"So, it's an incomprehensible situation," he said. "Not only are Christians being attacked, their churches are being destroyed. We can't even get a harmless nun to come over to the United States of America to talk to Congress."

The denial "is just one more example of the brain-dead way we're handling this situation. What could be so harmful about bringing a nun, a Mother Teresa, from Iraq" to talk about ISIS?, said Moore, author of "Defying ISIS: Preserving Christianity in Its Place of Birth and in Your Own Backyard."

He pointed out that thousands of Christians are now displaced because of ISIS, and Iraq's Christian population has declined over the past decade "because we're not doing things in Iraq to combat it."

Hayworth and the Newsmax Prime team will have an update on this story and the efforts to bring Sister Diana to the United States to address Congress tonight at 8 p.m.
