Former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu pounced on Donald Trump on Tuesday, calling the GOP presidential front-runner turned second-place finisher in Iowa a "loser" who has struck out through his life and could end up blowing his lead in the upcoming New Hampshire primary.
"[Sen. Ted] Cruz was a winner, [Sen. Marco] Rubio was a winner and Trump was a loser," Sununu said Tuesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on
Newsmax TV.

"I do know that although New Hampshire doesn't follow Iowa, it pays a little bit of attention to it. I think having lost in Iowa the way he did, it opens Trump up to scrutiny and people who will look at his record a little closer and maybe they'll notice that he really has a long history of losing."
"From Trump University to his four bankruptcies to the Trump magazines that failed to the Trump vodka that went out of business, the Trump fragrances that went out of business, to the Trump mortgage company that collapsed to a whole host of things that is a line of losing."
With 99 percent of the votes in, Cruz took 28 percent, with second-place Trump scoring 24 percent, and Rubio right behind him with 23 percent.
Sununu said Trump has been "trying to convince people his magic and he's always a winner. But he's not and Iowa might remind people that that's not the case."
Sununu also shuddered at the thought of Trump as the nation's commander-in-chief.
"The last thing in the world is you want a guy like Trump with his finger on the magic button so to speak," he said.
"I've been telling folks that I suspect that if Trump gets to be commander-in-chief the Defense Department will finally figure out how to keep the nuclear football away from him."
