Jim Jordan to Newsmax TV: Why Didn't We Hear From Wray if He Knew of Misconduct?

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, says he wants to hear from FBI Director Christopher Wray on when he personally knew of the agency’s misconduct during James Comey’s tenure.

“What we learned about what the Comey FBI did to Michael Flynn is so wrong, so terrible, it should never happen,” Jordan said Wednesday during an appearance on Newsmax TV’s “Greg Kelly Reports” in reference to the Flynn probe.

“If they could do this to a 3-star general, if they can do this to a president of the United States, imagine what they can do to you and I. What I want to know is why did we have to wait and learn this from the efforts of (Attorney General) Bill Barr and General Flynn’s lawyer, Sidney Powell. Why didn’t we learn this from Christopher Wray?”

Jordan and other top Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee sent Wray a letter Monday demanding he reveal when he knew of the misconduct after the Department of Justice released new documents related to Flynn's case in which former FBI counterintelligence director Bill Priestap openly questioned if the FBI’s goal was to get Flynn “to lie.”

“What’s our goal? Truth/Admission or to get him to lie, so we can prosecute him or get him fired?” Priestap wrote. “If we get him to admit to breaking the Logan Act, give facts to DOJ & have them decide. Or, if he initially lies, then we present him [redacted] & he admits it, document for DOJ, & let them decide how to address it.”

Flynn resigned as Trump's national security adviser in February 2017 and later that year pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about conversations he had with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
