Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Friday raised the specter slapping media organizations with subpoenas to end their publishing leaked classified information — but veteran political commentator Michael Reagan told Newsmax TV there's a fat chance of that ever happening.
"[The press has] a First Amendment right. They're not going to give up their sources. They're never going to give up their sources at all. Their job is exactly what they're doing on that," Reagan said to Miranda Khan on Newsmax's "America Talks Live."
"They're trying to find the leaker themselves to get the information to have the story to sell newspapers. It's Sessions' job and the White House's job and Kelly's job now to find out where those leaks are coming from."

Sessions said he will use the government's subpoena policy regarding leaks of classified information because they "place lives at risk."
"We respect the important role the press plays and will give them respect, but it is not unlimited," Sessions said at a press briefing.
"We must balance the press's role with protecting national security, the lives of those who serve in the intelligence community, the armed forces, and all law-abiding Americans."
Sessions' remarks are "a not-so-veiled shot across the bow at the news media," The New York Press Club said in a statement obtained by ABC News. ""Journalists will not be intimidated by the attorney general's threats.
