By    |   Tuesday, 16 February 2016 08:35 PM EST

Terrorism is a real threat facing the United States — and the next president must have a plan to destroy the Islamic State and other groups and must move quickly to implement that effort, Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush told Newsmax TV on Tuesday.

"ISIS is organized to attack us," he told "Newsmax Prime" host J.D. Hayworth. "They control terrorism — and they garner hundreds of millions of dollars each year. That's a real threat."

The jihadist group sends "hundreds of thousands of text messages and encrypted messages" daily, trying to "to radicalize people all across the world, including the United States. It is a direct threat.

"We saw what happened when the couple in San Bernardino, inspired by ISIS, killed coworkers — innocent people who were only there just to do their job," Bush said. "That's the threat."
