Webb Hubbell: White House Race Boils Down to Jeb and Hillary

By    |   Monday, 19 January 2015 05:29 PM EST

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush will face former secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential race, says former U.S. Associate Attorney General Webster "Webb" Hubbell, who was Clinton's law partner.

Hubbell told Joe Concha, guest host of "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV, that Republicans will eventually settle on Bush despite a growing list of current and former GOP lawmakers who say they are interested.

"They don't have a frontrunner and so they're going all over the country trying to find somebody that at least has a chance. Frankly, I don't think they have anybody," Hubbell said.

"I would bet it's going to be Bush. It'll be a Clinton-Bush race again."

And Hubbell — author of the new book "Ginger Snaps: A Jack Patterson Thriller," out May 21st from Beaufort Books — believes Clinton is highly qualified for the job.

"Hillary is an attractive candidate on her own, whether her husband was president or not," he said.

"She’s probably one of the most qualified people that's going to run. She's been secretary of State. She's been right next to the president of the United States for eight years.

"She was a U.S. senator and she was involved in education and other issues back in Arkansas for over 20 years."
