Ex-Army Lt. Col.: Obama Was Right, We Don't Have ISIS Strategy

By    |   Friday, 29 August 2014 04:42 PM EDT

Despite efforts by White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest to explain away President Barack Obama's statement that "we don't have a strategy yet" for dealing with the Islamic State (ISIS), retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer says the president was right.

"I'm sorry this whole Josh Earnest explanation 'well, the president misspoke,' no, it's true, we don't have a strategy," Shaffer told Ed Berliner on "MidPoint" on Newsmax TV Friday.

"Strategies have been recommended and they continue to pretend that everything is just fine, and it's all about a political narrative," the Senior Fellow at the London Center for Policy Research said.

"Right now, the best way to summarize the White House policy is 'we don't want to do anything,'" he added.

"The problem is this — you have a bunch of eight-year-olds parading around in Brooks Brother's suits pretending to be the National Security Council," Shaffer contends.

"For whatever bizarre reason, they don't seem to internalize that there are real threats, both domestically and foreign, that we have to start dealing with now," he said.
