President Donald Trump deserves a round of applause for freeing the three American hostages from North Korea, political commentator Michael Reagan told Newsmax TV.
Reagan told "America Talks Live" he and his wife stayed up late Wednesday night to watch the three Korean-Americans land at Andrews Air Force Base and greet Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, and others gathered on the tarmac.
"No matter how you feel about Donald Trump, you've got to applaud him on what he has been able to accomplish," Reagan said. "And applaud the secretary of state, thank God, The New York Times finally found him."

Reagan's last remark was in reference to The New York Times headline that accused Secretary of State Pompeo being "thousands of miles away" when Trump announced the U.S. withdrawal from the Iran deal this week. In fact, Pompeo was en route to North Korea to bring home the captured Americans — a fact the Times pointed out in its story but not its headline.
"I don't think they've been fair from the beginning because many of those in the media are liberals, they voted for Hillary Clinton, they're still upset that Hillary Clinton didn't win, they still think that Donald Trump cheated," Reagan said of the media's attitude toward Trump and his administration.
Regarding the freed prisoners' arrival, Reagan said it was an historic moment to watch.
"I stayed up last night with my wife and watched it," he said. "It was unbelievable to sit there and watch. In fact, I took pictures of my television and saved them on my iPhone for posterity, and then tweeted them out. Historic event, great event for everybody."
