Hispanic Activist: GOP Must Support Immmigration Reform

By    |   Friday, 14 Nov 2014 06:28 PM

Republicans must approve an immigration reform deal if they want to reach out to Hispanics, says Alfonso Aguilar, executive director of American Principles Project's Latino Partnership and former chief of the U.S. Office of Citizenship under George W. Bush.

"The GOP should do that, but not because of political considerations. It's the right thing to do out of principle," Aguilar said Friday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV, guest hosted by Dennis Michael Lynch.

"We can't deport over 11 million undocumented immigrants. We need to know who they are so we should provide them a path to legal status after they pay a penalty and back taxes. No special path to citizenship."
