Hillary Clinton's health is a lot more precarious than she's admitting to — and Americans should be concerned, says bestselling political writer Ed Klein, author of the new book, "Unlikeable: The Problem with Hillary."

"Her doctor says she's fine, but the sources I have … tell me she has a tendency to continue to blood clot, [and] has formed blood clots," Klein said Tuesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"As you know, [after] the last blood clot, she fainted and had to be taken to the hospital. Bill [Clinton] said it took her six months to recover from that."

"She has dizzy spells, her hands I'm told are trembling, she's gone to a neurologist about that, she doesn't think it's important but it's there — she has to take time off from the campaign trail because she doesn't have the energy."

In Dec. 2012, Clinton was diagnosed with a concussion after a fall in her home that was blamed on a stomach virus that left her weak and dehydrated.

She was found to have a blood clot in a vein between her brain and her skull, although doctors said she had no neurological damage and had not suffered from a stroke. The clot was treated with blood thinners.

"This is a woman who's running for president who clearly has difficult and serious medical problems that need to be revealed," Klein told Malzberg.

Asked why he believes the former secretary of state is so "unlikable," Klein said:

"The most important thing is she's always hiding something. You always feel that you're not getting the full truth that there's something behind what she's saying so that she's not sincere."

"She doesn't make contact with people. I can go back to her childhood and explain that she had a sadistic father who actually beat her brothers, who used to take the toothpaste, if she didn't put the toothpaste cap on right, he'd take it and throw it out the window into the snow and order her to go get it."

"So she had a very difficult childhood. She tried to cover up that difficulty and for her whole life she's been covering up …"

Klein also said that for years, Hillary and Bill Clinton have had an ongoing power struggle with Michelle and Barack Obama.

"People do not understand the depth of the intrigue, the backstabbing, the deliberate deception that goes on at the highest levels of the Democratic Party between these two almost mafia families, the Obamas and the Clintons. This is really a struggle to the death," Klein said.
