Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson says the Democrat he most wants to face in next year's general election is Hillary Clinton — but he doesn't believe she'll clench the nomination because of the mushrooming email scandal that surrounds her.

"I would much rather run against Hillary. All you have to do is play the stuff that she's been doing. You don't have to do anything else," Carson said Monday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"I don't think just any way that she's going to end up being the nominee."

Carson — who in a recent poll placed third among GOP candidates, following first-place Donald Trump and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush — said if he were Vice President Joe Biden, he would challenge Clinton.

"It would seem to be a very good opportunity for him," Carson said, adding that Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who is also taking on Clinton, has no chance.

"The guy's a socialist and even though some people are excited about him because he represents an alternative to Hillary, when push comes to shove, most Americans — even left wing Democrats — are not actually socialists," Carson said.

Carson said he is looking forward to the next televised GOP debate which will take place Sept. 16 debate on CNN.

"I want to talk about the economy. I want to talk about foreign policy. I want to talk about education. I want to talk about things that are critical to the survival of our nation," he said.
