A White House convinced that U.S. involvement in global affairs "has no positive effect" is letting Russia destabilize Ukraine instead of wielding American power to influence events abroad, security and foreign policy analyst Herbert London told
Newsmax TV on Monday.
The United States could — and should — freeze all Russian assets across the globe, deploy a protective squadron of fighter jets to Ukraine and give that country's military better weapons with which to repel violent separatists backed by Russia, the president of the London Center for Policy Research told "MidPoint" host Ed Berliner.

"So there is leverage that we have, but the president has chosen not to act," London said of President Barack Obama. "The very fact that he appears equivocal is, in the mind, of [Russian President Vladimir] Putin a sign of weakness."
