Gavin McInnes to Liberal Protesters: 'Your Villain Doesn't Exist'

Newsmax TV's "The Steve Malzberg Show"

By    |   Friday, 03 February 2017 05:13 PM EST

Conservative speaker, comic and actor Gavin McInnes was limited to just three minutes of his New York University appearance Thursday night before he was pepper sprayed by protesters and led out the back door by security.

But, if he was given license for free speech on a college campus — a dicey proposition these days — he intended to tell the NYU crowd, planted with "50 percent" violent liberal activists and demonstrators, "their villain doesn't exist," McInnes told Newsmax TV Friday night.

"Like this evil David Duke hate monger, they were calling me a hate speaker — whatever the hell that is," McInnes told "The Steve Malzberg Show" of the protested speech. "But this guy, this Hitler who wants to get out there and say blacks need to go back to Africa, and the Holocaust didn't exist, and gays are a sin, and interracial dating is wrong — that guy that they're looking for isn't really around.

"They've devoted their entire life to rooting out these evil Nazis, and there are none there. In other words, your entire existence is predicated on a myth. You're a ghost hunter. You're a witch hunter, and there are no ghosts; there are no witches, you losers."

McInnes, author of "The Death of Cool: From Teenage Rebellion to the Hangover of Adulthood," told host Steve Malzberg the NYU talk was set up to fail, perhaps by design.

"We were told that [attendees] were going to attack us . . . coming to disrupt," McInnes said. "They made it very clear that they were going to kick my ass. I didn't know that they were going to be using bear mace. That was a surprise.

". . . once I got inside the audience was full of plants. The audience was maybe 50 percent protesters, and these guys were screaming their heads off the entire time until I couldn't do my talk. And the guy who was organizing it — this VP of student relations or whatever his job is — he was pretending he wanted them to shut up, but he let them stay there screaming the whole time. So, they allowed these guys to disrupt my talk."

McInnes said he will not let the violence stop him from spreading his message — even on liberal college campuses, where "what they're fighting now is just free speech."

"It's the seven stages of grief," McInnes said. "They're in the anger phase, which I think is the second phase of grief. There's depression coming up, and denial was the first stage, but as far as college goes, I think colleges are gone. . . .

"Why are you going $60,000 into debt to learn these made-up classes, which are just really brainwashing."

Next time he is on campus, McInnes said, bring it on, haters.

"Fighting is fun — fighting solves everything," the comic joked.
