Zogby: Trump Needed Schooling to Win Next Debate

Donald Trump has likely agreed to being schooled by political experts and will be better prepared at this Sunday's second presidential debate against Hillary Clinton, veteran pollster John Zogby told Newsmax TV.

"[He will] if he wants to win – and there's something in me that says Donald Trump wants to win," Zogby said Thursday to Bill Tucker, guest host of "The Steve Malzberg Show."

"If that is indeed the case, then yeah, I think he is going to allow himself to be schooled because there isn't much time left.

"They're going into this debate virtually tied, and I do want to mention that if you look at the last three polls in the four-way race, it is an exactly tied race between Clinton and Trump. Her bump is over."

Zogby said the Republican presidential candidate must strive to not allow his Democratic opponent to get under his skin.

After the first presidential debate, many political analysts and polls concluded Clinton had bested Trump, who appeared to run out of gas after a half-hour.

"The stakes are very high for him, and he has to be sure he doesn't get too sensitive or hot under the collar or insulted because 'Wow, you don't think I'm as rich as I am? Well let me show you how rich I am,'" said Zogby, a senior Partner at John Zogby Strategies.

"He's got some issues on his side with some independents, with some middle-class people, who are undecided . . . and don't want to vote for a Democrat."

But there's also a chance Trump could just be Trump, according to Zogby.

"Whatever it is that's been Donald Trump has gotten him this far has a lot of us scratching our heads – but he's gotten this far. He's got know when to turn the spigot down a little bit and let some cold water in too to cool things off," Zogby, a Newsmax contributor, told Tucker.

"There are folks that wish that there was a little dial right back here. We'll see. He's also a pretty smart fellow, and he's gotten this far. I'm scratching my head, but he's gotten this far. So you can't argue with that."

Zogby, director of the Keenan Center for Entrepreneurship, is author of "We Are Many, We Are One: Neo-Tribes and Tribal Analytics in 21st Century," published by Paramount Market Publishing.
