Donald Trump tells Newsmax TV he can and will forgive Fox News anchor Chris Wallace for the "level of hatred" he exhibited during last week's Republican presidential debate — but it will be awhile before that happens.

Wallace — the son of legendary "60 Minutes" inquisitor Mike Wallace — ruffled the billionaire developer's feathers when he asked him about his business record — claiming his corporations had declared bankruptcy four times.

"I would go back on with Chris at the appropriate time but I thought the level of hatred in Chris's question was a little bit [much]," Trump said.

"I never went bankrupt," he continued. "The top financiers, like myself and like Leon Black of Apollo and like I can name almost all of them, [Carl] Icahn and [Henry] Kravis, and probably [Warren] Buffett and many, many of the absolute top guys, Sam Zell, they used the bankruptcy loss to their benefit.

"We use them and we use them well and we make great deals for our company and it gives us power. We know how to do it. We're professionals. We're really, really good at it … I just didn't like the way he asked the question because he understood the answer and he knew the answer and he had a lot of dislike."

Trump says he was particularly stung because Wallace's father, Mike — considered one of the toughest journalists in broadcasting — was a friend of his.

"His father was a tough cookie, let me tell you, but he really liked me. If you go back to '60 Minutes,' he did the greatest piece on me.... One of the nicest pieces. In fact, he said it's probably the nicest piece he ever did, but he liked me," he said.

"I was a little bit surprised at Chris but I would certainly do [another interview with] Chris."

But not yet. Trump will appear Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press," for an interview with Chuck Todd.

"I had some major issues with Chuck Todd and frankly he's been very fair to me over the last four or five weeks. I respect him. They asked me to do it and I'm doing it," Trump said.
