Dick Morris: Domestic Terror May Propel Trump to White House

National security will be at the forefront in the general election – and could vault Donald Trump into the White House, political strategist Dick Morris tells Newsmax TV.

In an interview with host Miranda Khan on "Newsmax Prime" Tuesday, Morris argues there's been a rise in terrorist attacks in the United States under President Barack Obama.

"After 9/11 under [President] George W. Bush, there was not another terrorist attack on American soil," he said. "But in the [seven and a half] years of Barack Obama, there have been 45 incidents on American soil costing hundreds of lives."

"It is the atmosphere of intimidation of our law enforcement personnel – that you have to be politically correct in fighting what is an ethnically based crime," he added, adding surveillance of mosques is no allowed.

"Unless we're flexible enough to adopt tactics… and investigate before [a terrorist attack] happens, they are just going to go rampant…."

Despite the "bounce" Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton got after California, winning enough delegates to be nominated, the race between her and the GOP presumptive nominee will narrow to a "four or five point lead" for Clinton, and Trump could well close the gap altogether.

"Terror attacks focus peoples priorities on his tough leadership versus Hillary's diplomatic straightjacket that she would impose on our security forces," he said.

Morris also blasted the Democratic National Committee over the reported hacking of its computer data by the Russians – adding that Clinton's campaign could end altogether if a reported release of her hacked emails is released by Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.

"We should be concerned with the Democratic party being so ridiculously neglectful of security that they allow [the emails] to be hacked" by the Russians," he said. "But if there is actually a release of [Clinton's] emails by the Russians hacking, her candidacy has to be over."
