Bill O'Reilly: GOP in Jeopardy If Trump Doesn't Focus on Agenda

The Republican Party is in grave danger of major losses in next year's midterm elections and President Donald Trump must take definitive action to stop them, former Fox News star Bill O'Reilly told Newsmax TV on Thursday.

"I think President Trump has got to understand that the Republican Party is in jeopardy and that he has got to stop the tweeting insignificant things and start to really [work on] . . . the things people elected him to do," O’Reilly told host John Bachman on "Newsmax Now."

"He has been pretty successful now. We've got the tax bill and tax reform. I think that will pass, ISIS is on the run, and the immigration thing is being turned around at the border. So three big things.

"So instead of fighting with Kirsten Gillibrand, who nobody even knows who she is, you have to do the big-picture thing. And if Donald Trump doesn't do that, I think his party is going to be in trouble next year."

O'Reilly was referring to Trump's rude tweets about the Democratic senator who asked him to resign in the wake of numerous complaints of sexual harassment and assault.

Trump fired back Tuesday:

Gillibrand called the cracks a "sexist smear" and labeled Trump a "bully."

O'Reilly told Bachman: "When the tax reform is passed, the women issue is what the Democrats are going to continue to do. So, they know that the Russian investigation is going nowhere. That's over. They know that the economy is doing very, very well. So, 'we got to get him on the women stuff.'

"That's where it's going to be. Now President Trump has got to set up a SWAT team to swat this stuff down. He's got to. Very effective, very methodical."

He said the commander in chief has to pivot away from the petty and say to Americans, "Look, I'm not a perfect guy, but I'm doing a good job, and I'm fulfilling my campaign promises to you, and everybody is going to be better off."

"[If he'll] just concentrate on that and put the other stuff aside, he would regain some momentum," O'Reilly said.

O'Reilly, former anchor of Fox's "The O'Reilly Factor," is co-author of the bestseller "Killing England: The Brutal Struggle for American Independence."

If President Donald Trump does not rise up against the sharpening knives of the Democratic Party and keep his focus on Twitter on the big agenda and off nonsense, Bill O'Reilly warns the Republican Party is in grave danger in 2018 midterms.
