The Club for Growth's $1 million advertising campaign launched Tuesday slamming Republican frontrunner Donald Trump seeks to prove that "he's not really this outsider who's going to change Washington," the group's president, David McIntosh, told
Newsmax TV.
"It's our hope that as we get the truth out they'll see what we're seeing," McIntosh told "The Hard Line" host Ed Berliner. "He's just like all the other politicians, where he'll say whatever it takes to get elected — but the truth is when he gets here, he would be disaster on economic policy. "

"The key part of this message is for voters to start to realize, 'Oh, wait a second, we better listen to what he's saying, not just how he's saying it and realize he's just like all the other politicians — telling us what we want to hear.'"
McIntosh readily admitted to Berliner that the task might be quite daunting, given the billionaire businessman's poll numbers.
"One of the ways we're doing it is to put it in his own words," he said. "One of the ads say that he agrees completely with the Supreme Court decision that lets government take private property and turn it over to developers. Conservatives would hate that if Obama or other liberals said it."
"The same thing with the fact that he wants to increase taxes or that he says 'I'll use the power of the presidency unilaterally to tax Ford [Motor Co.] and other companies.'
"If Obama or [Democratic candidate] Bernie Sanders started saying that, we'd recognize it immediately that that's a horrible idea and would do great damage to our Constitution, great damage to our economy," McIntosh said.
"Our hope is, by putting it in his own words, we will show people exactly what Donald Trump is all about."
